SHARKS STUN CHICKS WITH LATE GOALS GLUT

Amazing Aisha, Valiant Vicky, Dynamic Dee, Super Salma and a fine player who I never met

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 8 (Vicky Roe 4, Aisha Bi 2, Dilara Raeesah, Becky Nash)
THE MIGHTY CHICKS 4
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Premiership - June 19, 2013

THREE goals in the final four minutes set the seal on a thrilling victory for the Sharks last night.
The match did not start too well for GWS as a penalty was awarded against Aisha for what looked like a firm, but fair tackle in the very first minute.
The referee may have made the right decision in ordering me from the sidelines, and she may have been right to tell me to get off the playing area because I was wearing black shoes, but she was nowhere near right in giving a penalty.
Nonetheless, Mighty Chicks scored from the spot and soon made it 2-0 when they capitalised on a defensive mistake.
It looked like it might be a difficult night for the Sharks, but Vicky showed the way when she won possession determinedly and finished well to make it 2-1 in the fifth minute.
Vicky had a shot saved by a very impressive TMC goalkeeper, then against the run of play the Chicks went 3-1 up when a lucky deflected strike gave Salma no chance between the sticks.
The outstanding Dee was denied by a good save before Salma did really well to keep out a fierce shot at the other end.
Sharks needed a goal, and it came just before half time when Vicky fed a near post corner into Dee who flicked home a beauty.
Dee so nearly repeated the trick moments later, but come the interval it was 3-2 to TMC, although it must be said they were fortunate to be ahead as Sharks had done most of the pressing.
The game was there to be won for GWS in the second half.
HALF-TIME: 2-3
Aisha came into her own after the restart, winning the ball in midfield and applying a cool finish to make it 3-3.
Vicky saw a shot brilliantly saved, but then came the moment of the match.
From the halfway line, Aisha hit a fantastic dipping shot which went in off the post, with the keeper nonplussed and well beaten.
Sharks were now biting hard, and within seconds Vicky came up with another great finish from the left to make it 5-3.
Vicky was unlucky to hit both posts with one shot before The Mighty Chicks began to fight back, forcing Salma into a great save before missing a golden chance.
A goal for the Chicks was on the cards, and it came with a cracking finish to make it 5-4 with eight minutes left.
Sharks now piled on the pressure - there was no way they were settling for anything less than three points.
Becky was through twice one-on-one but was foiled by the excellent keeper, then Vicky rattled the post again.
Finally, the Sharks got some breathing space when Vicky finished off a dynamic run with a lovely shot inside the post to complete another hat-trick.
Then came a beautiful goal. Dee made her umpteenth tackle, fed Aisha who played the ball into the path of Vicky and the "Tamworth Terror" did the rest - 7-4.
Great work again from Dee released Becky who finally put away her deserved goal in the closing stages.
With Salma making three good stops and Huda putting in some fine determined work in her time on the pitch, this truly was a great team effort from the Sharks.
TEAM: Salma, Huda, Becky, Aisha, Dee, Vicky.
