NEW FACES ON SHOW

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 4 (Vicky 2, Aisha 2)
REAL NOIDEA 21
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE
June 25, 2014
TOUGH game.
First half saw Aisha sneak in an impressive goal less than a minute after the start, however this also triggered off the opposition going on a scoring spree.
The Sharks, fielded a side of Aisha, Vicky, Dee, Deaks & Jannelle.
Ever tough Real Noidea pushed their way through the Sharks defence time and again, though the Sharks continued to battle.
Half-time: 2-12.
We were aware we couldn't win but it was important to keep going.
Jannelle with her strong rocket shots just couldn't find the target.
Deaks, new to the game, made crucial passes. Dee was consistent with getting the ball around whilst Vicky and Aisha led the team with their two goals each.
A few own goals and a penalty did no justice to the final score of 4-21.
Salma said:
"Good effort tonight girls! We kept pushing throughout the game. The tempo was there. Shame about the results. We can only discipline ourselves and move forward as a unit.
"Face it we had the option to not show up and let them have a walkover of 8-0. We will stop criticising ourselves and not settle for bottom.
"Next three games must win - that's all we fight for!"

SHARKS WIN ON WALKOVER - VICKY GETS FOUR IN FRIENDLY

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 8
BIRMINGHAM FUTSAL CLUB LADIES 0 (WALKOVER)
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE - JUNE 18, 2014

SHARKS avoided going bottom after earning an 8-0 walkover win because opponents Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies did not show up.
GWS took on Bilbrook in a friendly and put up a good display in a 7-4 defeat which saw Vicky score all four goals.
Sharks got off to a good start with Vicky scoring the first.
Team tonight was: Salma, Vicky, Dee, Aisha and Camilla and all looked in good shape.
The end of the first half saw Sharks 5-2 down, Vicky scoring both.
In the second half Dee and Aisha pushed on to create more chances whilst Camilla's fine passing provided some assists.
Errors made by goalkeeper Salma didn't help the team's cause but the Sharks were satisfied with a 4-7 defeat.
If luck was on their side and had they managed more shots on target, they could have got a better result.
Salma said: "Moving forward and there's a big game next week when Sharks meet Stone Army which is a must-win for us to avoid going bottom!
"The Sharks have the ability - we just require the confidence and anything is possible, as we've proved in the past."

ANOTHER HEAVY DEFEAT

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Vicky)
BILBROOK 9
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE - JUNE 11. 2014

A GREAT effort from the team - but another heavy defeat.
Only one goal scored by the Sharks, by Vicky in the first half, but come the interval it was 1-4 and Bilbrook, the new leaders, added five more without reply in the second half.
When will this win come for the Sharks?
Salma said: "It was a poor performance by me in goal, I lost the game for the team.
"I was not even mentally prepared and I am now considering bringing former players back.
"A poor season so far but the team still sticks together through thick and thin.
"Will we see something good come out of this loyalty? We must strive to chase that elusive win."

NO LEGITIMATE VICTORY IN 17 MATCHES - WHERE IS OUR NEXT WIN COMING FROM?

SHARKS have not won a league game on the Futsal court since February 5 this year when they beat Purple Reign 5-2.
That was 17 matches ago.
Since that victory over Purple Reign, Sharks's only wins have come via four walkovers.
Otherwise, they have lost 11 and drawn one of their last 17 games.
While the spirit in the squad remains strong, a win of any kind is certainly needed to boost the confidence.
The problem this season is, there are several very good teams in the league, so Sharks must hit new heights if they are to get off the mark.
Sharks have been able to field a strong five most weeks, but perhaps require more substitutes to assist when a change of tactics is needed.
That 3-3 draw with champions Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies on the final night of last season was a really good performance and GWS need another one of those to get them up and running again.
The team will never stop trying and despite struggling for form, they remain committed to fulfilling their fixture week after week without fail.
That fact alone makes them winners in a league where so many other teams lack the Sharks' loyalty and commitment.
COME ON THE SHARKS!

AWESOME NOIDEA GIVE SHARKS A REAL AWAKENING

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 0
REAL NOIDEA 10
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE - JUNE 4, 2014

SOMETIMES you have to take your hat off and say you were beaten by a better side.
Wednesday was one of those occasions as awesome leaders Real Noidea racked up a 10-0 victory to remain top of the league.
It was always going to be a tough game and the Sharks soon knew they were up against it.
Feeling the nerves pre-match didn't help!
It was a hard-fought battle for GWS with Aisha, Dee, Farzana and Vicky joining captain Salma in the line-up.
The opposition scored five goals each half and deserved their win thoroughly.
They fielded an eight-a-side team with all players looking brilliant.
However, the Sharks are no strangers to fouls, pushes and pain, Salma taking out two players to concede penalties which did get her angry as referee Marlene never seemed to spot it when Sharks players were pushed around but was quick to give free-kicks if GWS made a challenge.
Aisha, Dee and Vicky came so close to scoring, hitting the crossbar and shots missing by inches. It is very rare that the Sharks never manage to score at least once.
However, the Sharks were satisfied with the competitiveness of their performance.
Meeting a similar aggressive team woke them up a bit but luck was never on the Sharks's side with nothing going their way, especially the referee's decisions.
