SALMA'S REPORT - SEPTEMBER 25, 2013

GREAT WHITE SHARKS v BHAM B - a team once again failed to show up.
So an 8-0 win for us followed by a friendly v Missfits.
First half saw a close battle between both teams Vicky scoring our first two followed by Aisha, half-time 3-4.
The second half started off well. Dee played some crucial passes to help Vicky and Aisha keep it in the opponents' area, however a few slips in the gaps allowed them to score regularly.
Farzana playing whilst ill and Sarita returning after a few missed games didn't really help.
The final result was 9-5 to the Missfits, Vicky and Aisha scoring another one each - three overall for Vicky and two for Aisha.
A hard-fought effort by the Sharks taking advantage of their mistakes when they came.
The Sharks know a better game is yet to be played and more team effort is still required.
Positivity and the results will come.

ANOTHER WALK OVER

GREAT WHITE SHARKS are third in the league with two wins and a loss - however the only game they have actually played ended in a defeat.
The two "wins" were walkovers, 8-0 victories because the other team did not turn up.
The latest walkover happened last night, when Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies B failed to show.
It again begs the question - why are teams entering the league in the first place if they have no intention of fulfilling their fixtures?
Each week, without fail, the Sharks get together a team. Sadly, so few others do the same.
Next week, Sharks are due to face The Bees - another team who are always reliable so at least we can look forward to a proper competitive match.
Last night, the Sharks played a friendly against the Misfits and lost 9-5.
Goals were scored by Vicky (3) and Aisha (2).

SHARKS WELL BEATEN

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Aisha)
UNDER-ESTIMATED 8
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Premiership - September 18, 2013

A ONE-SIDED game with the Sharks disjointed throughout.
Salma, Vicky, Dee, Aisha, Jade and Hameeda was the line-up, with the presence of Farzana at the back especially missed.
Even though the Sharks regularly got into good positions, there was never enough room to create those all-important scoring chances.
GWS were 4-1 down at half time, Aisha scoring with the aid of a deflection.
Vicky, who has scored 83 goals in her first two seasons for the team, also found the net, but the referee ruled the ball had already gone out of play.
In the second half the Sharks again attacked well up to a point, but were unable to create a good finish.
Under-Estimated, who look a good bet to win the league this season, were simply too good on the night.

WALKOVER VICTORY FOLLOWED BY FRIENDLY WIN

2013 AUTUMN SEASON
JOMA INTERNATIONAL LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP

TONIGHT'S first league game for the Sharks was a big letdown as opponents The Late Arrivals did not show up at all.
Therefore, an 8-0 win to the Sharks on a walkover but for teams to not be showing up on the very first night of the new season makes this league a farce.
Thankfully, there is another team as dependable as the Sharks - The Bees!
They had also been let down as their opponents Birmingham Futsal Ladies B failed to turn up, so were also given an 8-0 win.
So to make it worth their while showing at the Arena, The Sharks and The Bees met in a friendly.
Sharks started off with a good passage of passes, but Bees grabbed the first goal.
Debutant Jade soon equalised for GWS, then fellow 11-a-side player Saddi also got in on the act to make it 2-1.
In the end, Jade and Saddi scored three goals apiece and inevitably Vicky The Roadrunner, who netted around 50 goals last season, also scored.
Farzana was outstanding at the back, solid defending and produced some amazing blocks from powerful shots.
The Sharks kept the tempo going in the second half, forcing the Bees to do all the chasing.
Bees did manage one more goal via a deflection, but this was never enough against the Sharks, who won this friendly 7-4.
Salma saved a goal-shot at her head and was still standing. The team are growing stronger by the minute and are looking for prey.
Send them this way.....the Sharks are getting hungry.
TONIGHT'S LEAGUE RESULTS:
Under Estimated 7 Stone Army 1
Great White Sharks 8 The Late Arrivals 0
Birmingham Futsal Club B 0 The Bees 8
Birmingham Futsal Club 5 Misfits 5.
NEXT WEEK'S FIXTURES - SEP 18
7pm Birmingham Futsal Ladies B v Stone Army
7pm Misfits v The Bees
7.45pm Great White Sharks v Under Estimated
8.30pm Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies v The Late Arrivals.

CELEBRATING THE GREAT WHITE SHARKS

BEFORE we start the 2013 Autumn season let's take a look back at the Great White Sharks story so far.
Sharks first appeared with their very own blog after entering the Birmingham Futsal League for the very first time in December 2011.
History was made as GWS became the only Asian team in the league. Since then each season GWS have become stronger and stronger.
Featuring girls from all walks of life, this team has created opportunities for great talent.
From a few defeats to close games and draws to becoming the underdogs and beating strong teams they thought they could never match.....
The Sharks have achieved a tremendous amount, from finishing in fifth place to get to third and even second when performance matters.
Led by goalkeeper Salma this is a great time to look back at each individual who has represented the Sharks and believed the team will succeed.
A special thank you to each player of the past and the future who wore the colours of a Shark.
Since this blog began we have reached over 10,000 hits which is so overwhelming to see.
Thanks to: Camilla, Nazma, Nahilla, Anisha, Huda, Hameeda, Zem and Ambreen.
As for the Sharks still on board and ready to battle, special thanks to Aisha, Vicky, Becky, Saddiqa, Sarita, Dilara, Jade and Serricha, who look forward to winning this season's league and bringing home the Champions trophies.
The best way to predict the future is to create it. # KeepOnBiting
