CAMILLA HITS FOUR IN SUPERB VICTORY

IT was back-to-back wins and another revenge victory for the Sharks tonight.

GWS defeated Birmingham Futsal B 8-6, having lost 6-4 to the same team five weeks ago.

The first half ended 3-3, Camilla starting the party with a double and Nazma adding a single.

There was much more action in the second half, Sharks moving 7-4 ahead before Birmingham Futsal hit back, but the Whites would not be denied.

Camilla was the star player with four goals, Farzana adding another two to make it eight for the season, Nazma and Hameeda with one each.

There was also good back-up play from Aisha, Dee and Zem.

BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S WEDNESDAY FUTSAL LEAGUE - JULY 18, 2012
WHAT an amazing win for the Sharks tonight against one of the league's strongest teams!
Just five weeks ago GWS lost 15-3 to Two Left Feet on a night to forget.
Five weeks on it was a night to remember as Sharks gained revenge against the same opponents.
It was all the more a fantastic result by the fact GWS were without their top scorer Nazma.
However, a young 18-year-old debutant Hamida took her chance with a very impressive first performance.
In their adorable new white shirts, Sharks started off in composed fashion and Camilla was soon in top form scoring twice.
Farzana then sidelined a beautiful aerial goal. Pressure was on the Feet who then let in an own goal, but scored one of their own.
Leading 4-1, Sharks still had to flex their jaws to stay ahead. Two Left Feet attempted to bounce back and made it 4-3 before "Ice-Ice Albion" Aisha literally winded herself in the act of scoring her fourth goal of the season.
Camilla slammed in another to complete her hat-trick and reach double figures for the season with 11 goals.
Young Hamida then netted a beauty off a corner-kick and a great performance ended with a straightforward finish from Farzana.
TLF managed one more goal, but a good night between the posts for keeper Salma.
After the game Salma said: "In a game they had to play, the team yet to perform made a special comeback.
"We really put on a show - it was a great TEAM performance."

As for me, I'm so happy I am tempted to do another rap to celebrate...watch this space!

SHARKS ARE BOLD BUT LOSE TO THE FOLD

FRESH OFF THE FOLD 10

SHARKS looked great in their new kit tonight but the white shirts were not lucky on this occasion as the Fold ran out convincing winners.

New kit, new attitude, but Fresh struck first with a quick goal which was soon followed by another.

GWS replied when No7 Camilla curved a brilliant effort into the net for 2-1, but the Fold grabbed another one to make it 3-1 half time.

In the second half it all exploded for the Fresh - power, boots, control and mighty shots saw them rack up another quick two for 5-1.

Camilla scored another for Sharks for 10 minutes left and from there GWS battled well, marking players, taking hard-hitting deflections, but Fresh were pushing for more.

At times Sharks keep switching off, the formation is not being followed and opponents get too far ahead.

No1 Salma, dressed in gold, scored again from her goal, a long arm pass deflecting in off an opponent, but Fresh were in command and they added five more for a 10-3 result.

Salma said afterwards in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports: "I believe this is our last hard loss.

"It's time now to battle other teams who are much less experienced compared to us.

"It doesn't matter how slow you go - as long as you don't stop."

GEMMA HAS A GREAT FOOTBALL PEDIGREE

WE know a lot about our guiding light Salma Bi, but what about GEMMA SMITH, manager of the Birmingham Women's Futsal League and founder of the new SPORTING PATHWAYS initiative?

Gemma has a distinguished background in football as a goalkeeper, even though she is a more than useful outfield player.

She first joined a club aged 11 when she was scouted by BIRMINGHAM CITY - the club she proudly supports.

Gemma was at Birmingham from the ages of 11 to 16, also being chosen to represent the Birmingham County Centre of Excellence from 14 to 16.

The highlight of Gemma's career came when she was selected for the England Under-17s squad following a successful trial.

She was in the standby squad, and while she did not progress any further, it was still a fantastic achievement of which she is rightly very proud as there was a lot of high-class competition in that age group.

As a senior, Gemma was also at Coventry City for two seasons.

As her career in the leisure industry developed, Gemma found she had less time for football, but the game still plays a massive part in her life.

She recently earned a promotion to become technical manager of the Birmingham International Futsal Arena. Gemma also co-ordinates the ever-growing Birmingham Women's Futsal Leagues.

She said: "When we started off in March last year we had just two teams, but now we've got three divisions and 18 teams. I've been involved in ladies football for a number of years so managed to attract a lot of players that way, but also through advertising on networking sites like Facebook and word of mouth."

Gemma is really looking forward to August 25 when the 20-hour Non-Stop Futsal Marathon is attempted at the Birmingham International Futsal Arena.

In March, 40 girls were booked to attempt the 10-hour marathon but only 24 turned up and they gloriously succeeded.

Gemma explained: "We're going to need a minimum 40 this time. We'll be playing from 4am to midnight, so there will be a lot of effort to put in, but we're really looking forward to it and are confident we can achieve it."

BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S FUTSAL WEDNESDAY LEAGUE - JULY 4, 2012

GOALKEEPER Salma Bi scored her first ever goals for the Sharks in tonight's welcome victory over the Late Arrivals.

Salma's netted twice from long throw-outs which deflected into the goal off the opposing keeper - the Queen of Speen had them in a spin!

GWS made a great start, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes through Zem and top scorer Nazma.

Sharks then injected more bite by netting another two before half time, at which point they led 4-2.

Salma's long-arm tactics brought more joy for the Sharks in the second half with her brace of unique goals. Camilla then made a return in style, scoring two well-struck goals.

Nazma fired in the last goal, greatly assisted by the solid and composed Farzana, who also scored a goal of her own to maintain her fine form this season.

After the game, Salma said: "All the players turned up today, giving us the maximum chance. It was great to get back to winning ways.
"After all the knockbacks we've had recently we've managed to pick ourselves up eventually - we've failed our way to success!"
