SHARKS TURN ON POWER TO TAKE THE WIN

Aisha scored two tonight

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 9 (Vicky 4, Camilla 3, Aisha 2)
THE MISSFITS 6
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Championship - Feb 27, 2013
ANOTHER win for the Sharks tonight - but they were given a good battle by bottom of the table Missfits.
Overall, it was a pretty on the edge game which was quite even for the most part.
Missfits came well prepared and took the lead, but the Sharks pulled it back with a counter-attack in which Aisha speeded past everyone and netted for 1-1.
Take a bow Ice Ice!
So it was 1-1 at half time - now it was time for the Sharks to wake up and take control.
Within the first five minutes Camilla scored twice with lovely skilful finishes.
It was then time for Vicky to open her account from a free-kick, but this did not keep The Missfits at bay.
The opposition fought back and at one point it was 6-6.
This only inspired the best players on show, as Camilla scored another and Vicky then added three more to make it four goals on the night for the Roadrunner.
So it ended 9-6 but it had been a difficult test.
Goals came from: Vicky 4, Camilla 3 and Aisha 2.
Sarita battled hard in defence and overall the five Sharks worked well as a team without subs.
Team captain Salma said afterwards: "The hardest thing about success is staying a success.
"Sharks are having a good season. We're third in the league and have won four games in a row."
Next week things will get much harder for the Great White Sharks as they played second-placed Under Estimated.
Hopefully Vicky will have got over all her knocks and illness as she is such a special player for the Sharks.

THE LATE ARRIVALS 3

Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Championship - Feb 20, 2013
VICKY notched a hat-trick and Serricha scored two as the Sharks made it three straight wins tonight.
The first half saw Serricha hit two goals and Vicky one.
Sharks were finding their rhythm but the Arrivals kept good possession to be just 3-1 down at half time.
The second half saw the Sharks pick up a lot better and Vicky was unstoppable, scoring two more goals to make it 14 in seven matches.
The Tamworth Terror scored back-to-back goals before giving Aisha a great chance to smash in a goal which she took.
Camilla also made the scoresheet with a good finish.
Dee and Camilla held things together well, while Salma was solid between the sticks.
The Sharks are still third but very close to the top two.
Captain Salma said: "Success is something that attracts you by the team you become. This is something the Sharks enjoy doing best.

THE BEES 0
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Championship - WALKOVER (opponents failed to field a team)

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 6 (Vicky 3, Serricha, Aisha, Camilla)
CRESSWELL 2
Friendly

AFTER the Great White Sharks were handed their league game 8-0 on a walkover because opponents The Bees could not fulfill the fixture, Salma's team took Premiership side Cresswell in a friendly.
And the Sharks certainly took a bite out of higher rated opposition as they carried on their great form of the week before.
The first half saw GWS lead 4-1 with Vicky Roe scoring another hat-trick and Serricha adding a single.
The second half saw the return of young talent Aisha Bi, who was the Ticking Bomb, just like her idol Abby Wambach (USA's second highest goalscorer of all time), heading home a beauty.
The final goal was slammed in by Camilla rounding off a mighty 6-2 win.
Salma said after the game: "The Sharks believe if they are doing their best, no matter what the game, you don't have to worry about failure."

BEAT THE BUZZER!

Alan the local shark who lives in Solihull

BEAT THE BUZZER (a celebration rap for The Great White Sharks)

Salma, Vicky, Camilla, Dee
They all took on Bham Club B
No-one gave them much of a chance
But they are never beaten in advance
They took the lead, it was a stunner
Another goal for Vicky Roadrunner
Then Roe she gave us another two
And those Bham girls they had the blues

Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof

Salma in goal she was immense
Dee was fantastic in defence
Camilla she inspired all around
Vicky left them lying on the ground
Serricha Serricha what can she teach ya
Aisha she battles with her rock hard tackles
These Sharky girls are never intimidated
Next time they'll beat Under Estimated

Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof

Birmingham were never gonna concede
They're a mighty crew and top of the league
But on this night the Sharks had bite
The girls were buzzin and up for the fight
They never stopped running till the end
And boy those girls sure can defend
With Vicky around there can be no error
They just can't handle the Tamworth Terror

Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof
Beat the Buzzer oof-oof-oof-oof

WHAT A NIGHT!

THIS is why we play sport - for special nights like this!
The Great White Sharks have had their ups and downs over the past two years, but their win over league leaders Birmingham Ladies Futsal Club B was a HUGE positive.
Vicky did a fantastic job again, scoring three goals to move on to 11 for the season. It just shows how much we missed her last week!
However, it should also be noted that the Sharks went 3-0 up quite early and that they had to defend like demons to hold out for the win.
So credit to Salma and all the defence too - this was very much a team effort.
I was so happy to hear last night's result. When you are playing the league leaders you can expect the worst, but these Sharks girls proved they can compete with anyone in this Championship division.
Last night's win was also a tribute to the work captain Salma does for this team.
Week in, week out, she ensures Great White Sharks field a team in this league.
Remember last season? All those teams pulling out on the night and those 8-0 walkover wins?
Well, the Sharks fulfilled EVERY fixture. Win or lose, they always competed every week.
And regardless of the result, Salma always sends a report for this blog. She always looks for the positives and never stops encouraging her fellow players.
Last night was a reward for Salma and her Sharks.
Let's go on a run now and challenge for this league title!
GO SHARKS!

STUNNING WIN FOR THE SHARKS

Hat-trick star Vicky

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Vicky Roe 3)
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL CLUB B 2
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Championship
IT was a night to remember as the Sharks caused a huge upset by beating the league leaders and ending their unbeaten record.
GWS started with a blast as Vicky "Roadrunner" Roe found the net within the first five minutes - the bite had begun.
Vicky became unstoppable, scoring another two goals after stealing the ball from Birmingham centre kicks to complete her hat-trick.
Just the perfect start to get the Sharks ahead!
Birmingham aren't top for nothing, though, and they were not about to concede. They managed to score their first to make it 3-1 at half time.
The Sharks knew they faced a tough fight in the second half to hold on to their lead, but they kept their nerve and worked as a team.
Serricha and Vicky passed the ball well, while Dee produced some brilliant defending.
Senior player Camilla kept the team alert and created more chances.
Birmingham kept their subs on their feet to cause damage, which they did by scoring their second goal.
Ten minutes to go and the score was now 3-2.
Sharks goalkeeper Salma was doing everything to keep the ball away from her goal.
GWS players tired, but they held on bravely and stayed on top of their opponents.
The arena was alive and this game was still anybody's.
The tempo never dropped and both teams kept battling, but before any more aggression could be delivered the final whistle went and Sharks celebrated a famous victory!
Sharks had beaten the top of the league team!
A proud Salma said after the game: "In training you must sweat more, so you bleed less in war."

SUPER STARTER BEFORE THE MAIN COURSE!

Great White Sharks 5 (Vicky, Charlie, Dee, Sarita, Serricha)
The Bees 5
Friendly - Feb 6, 2013

BEFORE tonight's league game the Sharks had a great warm-up against the Bees.
Included in the Sharks team as a guest was Charlie Charmer - the world's greatest goalkeeper - and star of the Futsal Marathons.
This was a strong effort from GWS. They fielded a mix of players, but it was a good taster before the main event.
The 5-5 result was a good one, with Charmer scoring one (yaroo).

Even when the Sharks eventually got a full side on the pitch it was too late to battle back and the final score was 6-1 to UE.
