DYNAMIC DOZEN FOR THE SHARKS

Dilara (Dee) scored twice for the Sharks

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 12 (Vicky 5, Serricha 4, Dee 2, Darcy)
THE MISSFITS 3
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League Championship
THE Sharks rattled up a record victory as they got their season well and truly underway tonight.
GWS scored no less than 12 goals, with new signing Vicky Roe scoring five.
After losing their first two matches by just a single goal it was a case of new game new attitude for the Sharks tonight.
Two girls made their debut for the team - Melissa Pace and Darcy - and both did really well.
It was 3-3 at half time, Vicky netting two and last season's top scorer Dee also on target.
However, it was time to play even better after the interval!
And the Sharks did some real damage - adding another nine goals.
This was a performance well needed which not only involved composure, but also attitude and BITE!
It was the game for all.
Vicky scored five, Serricha four, Dee two and Darcy scored the goal of the day, a left foot shot that was never going to be stopped!
As for Roadrunner (Vicky), Dee and Serricha, their goals came as a result of strong passing and top team play.
Camilla, Melissa and Aisha assisted the rest of the team really well.
Salma said after the game:
"Tonight the Sharks let go of who they are and became who they might be - and that is champions!
"A solid team that is ready for more!"
Sharks are now up to second in the Championship table on goal difference!

SHARKS TEAM: Salma (GK and captain), Dee, Vicky, Camilla, Melanie, Serricha, Aisha, Darcy.

PIPPED AT THE POST

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 4 (Vicky 2, Aisha, Camilla)
THE LATE ARRIVALS 5
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League Championship - Jan 16, 2013

ANOTHER close call for the Sharks tonight but they will feel they threw this one away.
Vicky Roe opened the scoring for GWS, then Dee made a great pass, enabling Aisha to score with a solid shot.
The Late Arrivals pulled one back, but in no time Vicky notched her second.
Sharks led 3-1 at half time, but the girls knew they could do better.
However, TLA came out determined for the second half and soon they were level at 3-3.
Back came the Sharks, and when Camilla joined the attack she was able to put her team back in front.
Nonetheless, poor defending and squandered possession allowed TLA to go 5-4 ahead with just seconds remaining.
The Sharks' final attempt to equalise came to nothing as Dee headed narrowly wide.
Salma said after the game: "A game that once won easily now becomes something for the Sharks to think about.
"There's a long way to go in the season, but the Sharks need to think positive.
"The ones who dare to fail miserably go on to achieve greatly."
Great White Sharks team: Salma Bi, Aisha Bi, Camilla Olsen, Nicky Kahwal, Vicky Roe, Dilara Raeesah.
                                                   **************************
Sharks were able to beat The Late Arrivals comfortably last season, but the tables were turned tonight.
Have TLA got better or the Sharks got worse? Time will tell.
It is now two defeats from two for Sharks - both by a single goal.
Next week it gets tougher as GWS play Cresswell, the Championship newcomers who have won both their matches so far.
Tonight's other results: Under Estimated 4 Cresswell 9; Birmingham Ladies Futsal Club B 10 Bees 0.
Fixtures (Wednesday, Jan 23): Under Estimated v The Bees; Birmingham Ladies Futsal Club B v The Late Arrivals; Cresswell v Great White Sharks.

NARROW DEFEAT FOR SHARKS

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Vicky, Nicky 2)
THE BEES 4
Joma International Ladies Futsal League Championship - January 9, 2013

THE Sharks' hopes of beginning the new season with a draw were scuppered when The Bees provided a late sting by scoring a last-gasp winning goal.
After a two-week break, GWS gave debuts to new recruits Vicky Roe and Nicky, with the rest of the team made up of Salma Bi, Aisha Bi, Camilla Olsen and Dilara Raeesah (Dee), who was last season's top scorer with 21 goals.
Despite a steady start, Sharks conceded two easy goals to The Bees, but GWS then began to get to grips with playing alongside each other and a powerful shot from Vicky made it 2-1.
However, The Bees managed to slip in another sneaky goal to make the half time score 3-1.
Although two goals behind, the Sharks knew this was a game worth fighting for, so they emerged after the break a more powerful force and produced some composed play.
Nicky delivered two brilliant goals to make it 3-3 and a point looked to be in the bag.
However, in the final minute, a small error from goalkeeper Salma, where the ball deflected off the bar, allowed the Bees to literally walk in the winner.
Salma said after the game: "Our first game could have gone either way; a few hiccups but the new Sharks facelift looks promising and dangerous to opposing teams.
"Once they get the rhythm going this team will mean all jaws and all business."
OTHER SCORES (Jan 9): The Late Arrivals 3 Cresswell 9; Under Estimated 1 Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies B 6.
NEXT WEEK'S FIXTURES (Wednesday, January 16): Great White Sharks v The Late Arrivals; Under Estimated v Cresswell; Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies B v The Bees.
