I have no idea why Pic n' Mix are down as having played 3 games and everyone else is on 2.
On the leagues website, Pic n'Mix are down as beating The Fly Aways 23-2, but The Fly Aways are not even in the Premiership!
I'd write and enquire, but I'm still awaiting a reply from the league on why the Championship winners had to play-off against the much stronger Premiership winners for a place in the London finals.
There are no further matches until January 7, so hope everyone has a good festive season. DJ.

UNLUCKY 13 FOR SHARKS

Goalscorer Aisha in action

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Aisha)
FC BALLERS 13
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S FUTSAL LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP - SEASON 4, 2014

SALMA'S REPORT.....
Sharks managed to field five players despite missing our top goalscorer Vicky.
GWS held things together in the first five minutes really well, pushing on and playing some good futsal.
However, playing in the Premiership, the Sharks still have a lot of learning to do.
Ballers got on top and by half-time they were 7-0 up.
In the second half, Sharks were encouraged to man-mark where possible.
Hameeda cleared a decent ball which allowed Camilla and play in and pass to Dee. She then found Aisha, who scored a brilliant goal.
However, the Ballers had the better of things again and ended up 13-1 winners. The Ballers were promoted from the Championship along with us this season and are proving they can adjust well to the higher standard.
Decent effort tonight Sharks!
We won't enjoy this league but we must learn from it.
It's a mixed feeling after promotion and now coming up against tougher sides. Well done and thank you for turning up tonight.
Regardless of the score you still maintain high spirits. I believe this was a better performance than last week and best yet so far versus the Ballers. Some close chances tonight which were unlucky.
We've come a long way as a team and we need to maintain a positive attitude :) Proud of you Sharks.

SHARKS HIT FOR SIX

STONE ARMY 6
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 0
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP - SEASON 4 2014

SHARKS scored 130 goals last season but on their first night back in the Premiership they were unable to find the net once against their old rivals Stone.
Under-prepared in the first half, and perhaps still celebrating last week's Championship title win in their minds, Sharks were 5-0 down at the break.
A lack of communication and poor passing let GWS down.
In the second half Sharks kept things very tight, battled hard and focused on holding the game.
It remained 5-0 until the final two minutes when Stone added a sixth.
Salma said: "Very good effort tonight Sharks. First half was a bit of a task, but second half we proved we can hold a performance together.
"Unfortunate tonight team, but you all at one point deserved a goal.
"We need a positive approach in this league and it will only get tougher unless we step up too."

TONIGHT'S OTHER SCORES:
Trac 8-0 FC Ballers
Under Estimated 9-6 Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies

MANY THANKS ALSO TO.....

Farzana Hussain - a great defender for the Sharks

WE must not forget either others who have helped the Sharks on their journey, not just this season but in past seasons too.
Although FARZANA HUSSAIN did not play regularly this season, she did make a couple of appearances and performed superbly as always in defence.
She has been a huge figure for the Sharks in seasons gone by.
Many thanks to Farzana and everyone else who has represented the Sharks this, or in previous seasons.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - VICKY ROE (FORWARD)

VICKY ROE (FORWARD)

Vicky had always been a prolific scorer for the Sharks, but this season has been her very best ever.
She scored 65 goals in our championship-winning side, that total including 18 in one game and 10 in another!
Vicky has now netted an amazing 238 GOALS for the team in probably less than 100 matches.
She was determined to finish up a title-winner on Wednesday night and she certainly delivered, scoring five goals in the championship-clinching 10-3 beating of ABCDE FC.
The Tamworth Terror started off as a goalkeeper and only began playing up front when she joined the Sharks at the beginning of 2013.
In outdoor football, she plays as a defender, but on the Futsal court she is very much a striker.
All hail the Wilnecote Wonder!

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - CAMILLA OLSEN (FORWARD)

CAMILLA OLSEN (FORWARD)

Camilla is one of the Sharks' longest-serving players and it was wonderful to have her back in regular action for the team this season.
And what a season she had!
Camilla scored no less than 14 goals in the last five games, including two hat-tricks and a five.
Like Dee, she can play anywhere and be effective.
As we have not kept records from the start, we do not know how many goals in total Camilla has scored for the Sharks, but it is over 100 for sure.
A true sportswoman and a diamond performer for the Sharks.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - DILARA RAEESAH (DEFENDER)

DILARA RAEESAH (DEFENDER)

Dilara, better known as Dee, was one of the Sharks' most consistent performers this season.
She really came into her own in the last few games and was the star player when she scored four times playing up front in the vital 9-2 win against The Fly Aways.
Dee is known as Wonder Woman as she changes her costume so quickly before and after a match.
She puts everything into each performance, tackling well at the back and as a former striker for the Sharks, she is also effective up front.
Every team needs a Dee and Sharks are lucky to have her.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - AISHA BI (MIDFIELD)

AISHA BI (MIDFIELD)

Aisha has had an amazing season for the Sharks.
This hard-tackling, hard working midfield player scored a fantastic 25 goals during the season.
She now has 90 goals in her career for GWS, so should get to the big 100 next season.
Aisha's spirit was typified when she played in the final game against ABCDE FC despite being unwell.
She scored consistently all season and netted six goals in her first match!
The sister of Salma, Aisha also plays a lot of outdoor football and is a developing talent.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - HAMEEDA (DEFENDER)

HAMEEDA (DEFENDER)

This youngster has had a great season for the Sharks.
She can always be relied upon to give 100% for the team.
Hameeda is a determined performer, always looking to run at defenders and take a shot and is strong in the tackle.
She typifies what the Sharks are all about - bite and spirit.
Her efforts are hugely appreciated by all the team.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS - SALMA (GOALKEEPER)

SALMA BI (GOALKEEPER)

Salma has had an amazing 2014!
She had a wonderful cricket season, winning trophies and setting new records, and she won the international Women in Cricket Award at the inaugural British Asian Cricket Awards.
Salma also got married to Sohail Mughal, a headteacher in Pakistan, and the couple have many exciting plans for the future, both sporting and charitable.
And Salma rounded off the year as a Championship winner with her beloved Sharks!
She makes sure the team turns up week in, week out in EVERY season. No other team can say that.
The Sharks captain also provides all the match reports, win or lose, and always looks for positives.
TONIGHT A TRUE CHAMPION IS PART OF A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS!!

THE TITLE IS WON! SHARKS ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

ABCDE FC 3
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - DECEMBER 3, 2014

DECEMBER 3, 2014, will go down as the night the Great White Sharks made history.
The Sharks had to beat ABCDE FC to win the Championship title and they delivered in style with a 10-3 victory to celebrate their first trophy.
After being relegated from the Premiership last season, taking a lot of heavy defeats along the way, the Sharks faced a crossroads.
They had to improve or face going under. The introduction of the Championship gave them the chance to build themselves up again at a lower level and they did themselves proud.
It has been very much a team effort, but special mention must be made of Vicky Roe who scored her best ever total of 65 goals in a season.
Team captain Salma describes tonight's achievement...
In the first half we were level at 2-2, but then stepped it up and were 5-2 ahead at half time.
In the second half GWS moved further in front at 7-2 before a very dubious penalty was given for handball against Vicky which ABCDE FC converted.
But this only inspired the Sharks to new heights and three more goals took them to glory.
"Tonight I am proud of each and every one of you Tonight was all about taking the title home which we did with great confidence!
"Amazing game play tonight, Vicky running riot and netting five, Cam Olsen with your wise moves scoring three, Dilara Raeesah brilliant possession and hitting one and Hameeda you deserved your goal with the hype you created second half.
"Last but not least, well done Aisha Bi for your beautiful play and skills and for the way you fought for the team while carrying an injury.
"We deflated Shauna the Sheep and The Herd! Proud to have nurtured hungry animals in my team.
"GWS - Proud xx"
