SHARKS GETTING CLOSER TO WIN THEY NEED

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 5 (Nazma 2, Farzana, Zem, 1 own goal)
BEES 7
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S FUTSAL WEDNESDAY LEAGUE - JUNE 27, 2012
SHARKS were narrowly defeated by a Bees side they had lost to by four goals at the start of the season.
It was a good effort from GWS, their strengths including pressurising the Bees into mistakes and managing some excellent shots on goal (Farzana especially).
Sharks' weaknesses were underestimating Bees' strikers and giving them too much room by their goal - "we needed to be ON them ALL the time" said team manager and keeper Salma.
Nazma kept up her record of scoring in every game by netting twice, Farzana notched one and Zem grabbed her first goal for the team. There was also an own goal.
Salma added: "We were on top once again and had many chances but didn't score enough goals.
"We need the midfield and striker to communicate and pass up top to create chances for each other.
"We're getting better every week - we'll be even better next week!
"This season we will carry on with our heads held high and aim to at least get a win sometime soon."

SHARKS SHOW THEIR TEETH AND BITE BACK!

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 4 (Farzana 2, Aisha Bi, Nazma)
BIRMINGHAM FUTSAL B 6
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S FUTSAL WEDNESDAY LEAGUE - 20.6.2012
AFTER the previous week's heavy defeat Sharks re-emerged with a new attitude tonight.
The result may have gone against them, but the performance was so much better against high-flying Bham Futsal B.
There was a change in the team structure with Camilla being appointed captain.
The Sharks had something to prove and they got their bite back!
Bham scored an early goal, but by half time it was 3-3.
In the end GWS lost 6-4 but it was a close battle.
Nazma kept up her record of scoring in every match so far, in-form Albion Aisha netted for the second game in a row, and Farzana showed her versatility by scoring twice.
Sharks founder Salma said: "We had a better formation tonight - it felt good.
"We put up a strong battle against a top of the league team. Some great chances were made but as we keep on biting we can eventually get there.
"Today we were the team we really are.
"Sharks are waking up now  - it's time to go in all Jaws!"

A NIGHT TO FORGET

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Nazma 2, Aisha Bi)
TWO LEFT FEET 15
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S WEDNESDAY FUTSAL LEAGUE DIVISION THREE

SOMETIMES in life you have to let things go, no matter how disappointed you are.
That was the case tonight as the Sharks were heavily beaten by new opponents Two Left Feet.
This must have been one of GWS's biggest losses, and no doubt there is a little despondency in the camp.
However, tomorrow the result will be yesterday's news. It is now up to the team to bounce back in the right fashion and give it everything next week.
You cannot change the past - but you can affect the future.
At least the prolific Nazma scored another two goals tonight and it was great to see Albion Aisha score again - now she's got one she'll get lots more.
On to next week.....
Let's draw a line under this one....

SALMA IN THE NEWS AGAIN!

OUR guiding light and Great White Sharks captain Salma Bi is featured in both the Birmingham Mail and The Asian Today this week.
The newspapers have published the story of Salma's success in becoming the first ever winner of the Sport category at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards in London.
The glittering ceremony took place on May 16 at the plush Hilton Hotel in Park Lane and featured a star-studded guest list which included awards patron Cherie Blair QC, Eastenders actress Preeya Kalidas, newsreader Mary Nightingale and rising star, pop singer Avina Shah.

The 13th AWA awards included a Sport section for the very first time and Salma was named the inaugural winner ahead of former British No1 tennis player Anne Keothavong, England hockey talent Ashpal Kaur Bhogai, Urvasi Naidoo, CEO of the International Federation of Netball Associations, and amateur boxer and coach Saira Tabasum.

ICE-ICE JOINS THE BAGGIES!!

Aisha (right) meets her friend Miley Ray Cyrus

GREAT NEWS!
Sharks midfielder Aisha Bi has been offered a scholarship by West Bromwich Albion.
The offer was made after trials Aisha participated at in Birmingham this week.
"I'm going to give it a go and hope something good comes out of it," said Aisha.
Aisha, 17, has also had trials in Lancashire this week for FirstPointUSA which offers opportunities for girls to improve their football in America and get involved in coaching.
Football-loving Aisha, who is nicknamed "Ice-Ice" after the famous rap song, has improved her abilities a lot in recent months through playing more futsal.
She recently scored her first league goal for the Great White Sharks and poached a hat-trick at the recent 10-hour female futsal marathon in Birmingham on March 10.
A midfielder, Aisha is a tall and strong player, good in the tackle and with a powerful shot in her armoury.
Aisha is closely supported by her elder sister Salma for whom much of life revolves around helping youngsters develop their sporting skills.
West Bromwich Albion play in the English Premier League so are a great club to get involved with.
We wish Aisha all the best with the Baggies and hope her football career continues to blossom.

SUCCESS NEEDS TO BECOME A HABIT - NOT JUST A GOAL

FRESH OFF THE FOLD 7
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 2 (Nazma 2)
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S WEDNESDAY FUTSAL LEAGUE DIVISION THREE - JUNE 6, 2012

"SUCCESS NEEDS TO BE A HABIT - NOT JUST A GOAL"
The wise words of Sharks captain Salma Bi after tonight's defeat.
Fresh Off The Fold produced a strong and powerful first half performance and took a 4-0 lead.
In the second half Sharks improved and Nazma scored twice thanks to the support of new player Zem and regular player "Ice-Ice" Aisha Bi.
Another new recruit tonight was Dilara. Thank you to her and Zem for joining the Sharks - we hope you both do well and enjoy your Futsal.
Salma added more words of wisdom: "It's only the start of the season and it was a good effort. We can try our best and keep on biting.
"It was a solid fightback - we just need a better start."
