FUTSAL FEMMES REACH 20-HOUR LANDMARK!

Team Tango

Team Lime

THIRTY-FIVE heroic females broke the women's world record for playing indoor football non-stop on Saturday.
The Birmingham Futsal Arena was the venue where a new record of playing Futsal for 20 consecutive hours was set.
Five months earlier, many of the same women were involved in the setting of a 10-hour record.
This was later beaten, so the Birmingham redoubtables came back and doubled their original marathon time!
Two teams - Team Lime, captained by award-winning cricketer Salma Bi (Jess), and Team Tango, led by former England under-17 goalkeeper Gemma Smith (Jules), took part in this historic event.
Back in March, Gemma's blue team had defeated Salma's reds 167-100, but in the return match, it was Lime who came out on top 163-114.
The marathon kicked off at 4am on Saturday and continued right through until midnight.
Following the opening ceremony, Salma awarded the 10-hour Record Trophy to Gemma, before the 20-hour bid began.
During the day drinks were available for all players and spectators at this ladies-only event.
It was still anyone's game when 10 hours passed. Every 20th goal was prized.
Team Lime's star player Emma Dagley stood out by far, while Team Tango's specialist goalkeeper Gemma Goode was on duty between the posts for a record 13 hours.
Hot food was provided not only at 2pm, but then with pizza at 8pm. Also thrown in was a ChocFountain, candy floss and popcorn.
The photographer captured some great action shots of players, spectators and balloons!
As the final four hours were entered, the audience became much larger in anticipation of the new record.
Special referee Cherie Dabbs spent 20 hours on crutches and officiating.
Even when things got tough the girls carried on pushing. Vicky Roe 'RoadRunner' and Stacey Coleman were amazing for Team Tango.
Young star Aisha Bi and Great White Sharks buddy Buddy Nazma Shaheen were superb for Lime.
The 100th goalscorers were: Team Lime - Aisha Bi; Team Tango - Nicky Preston.
In the 14th hour Team Lime got ahead and finished up 163-114 winners.
Giving a national feel to the event were, from London Manisha Tailor and Lesley Thurston, and from North Wales Naela Ahmad.
This was Salma's MAD Productions company and Gemma's Sporting Pathways' third fund-raising event this year!
As promised, this latest showpiece was the biggest and best - raising a whopping figure of £1,580.
The girls will raise a bit more by next week to achieve a target of £2,000 to contribute to a Cerebral Palsy Disability Charity Sports Equipment & Sports Room named after Sporting Pathways.
Special thanks to Satty Panesar and family who provided excellent catering and display services, plus sponsors  FoneHouse http://www.fonehouse.co.uk/Home, Pro 5 http://www.pro5.tv/ and Coast Collective.

HEAVY LAST NIGHT DEFEAT

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 2 (Aisha, Camilla)
TWO LEFT FEET 18
LEAGUE champions Two Left Feet ran out big winners over the Sharks - the only team to have beaten them this season.
Aisha and Camilla were the Sharks scorers and it was only 6-1 at half time, but the Feet were on a roll and added another dozen in the second half.
Salma said: "They may be league champs, but we are the only team to have beaten them before tonight.
"Season three was full of drama, but we've gained players and we've stuck together through thick and thin.
"What's next? Next week possibly a tournament and then inshallah Weds Season Four!
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Thank you for putting up with me and I love how we work even harder when we are going down!
"Sharks keep on biting - still plenty of fish in the sea"

HUNGRY SHARKS NEED REFUELLING!

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Farzana)
FRESH OFF THE FOLD 8
SHARKS lost to Fresh Off The Fold for the third time this season on Wednesday night.
Fresh went 3-0 up and although Farzana pulled a goal back for GWS early in the second half, there was no ammunition left in the tank and the Fold just kept on scoring.
Captain Camilla's message said it all:
"What can I say? I think we are feeling our fast now at the end of Ramadan and maybe we were thinking more about what we're gonna eat for Iftar instead of our game, lol!
"But never mind; I am proud of all of you for showing up and even playing through this blessed month.
"Well done all of you!!!! Xx"

GREAT INTERVIEW WITH SALMA

THERE is an interview with Salma Bi in the latest issue of Fifteen21 magazine.
In the interview our guiding light talks about her cricket career, her professional life and her background in sport.
As always, a great read. And there is also a feature on the great Amir Khan (pictured above with Salma).

FOURSOME FARZANA!

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 8 (Farzana 4, Nazma 3, Dee)
LATE ARRIVALS 4
FARZANA HUSSAIN produced a four-goal wonder show as the Sharks returned to winning ways tonight.
Missing captain Camilla, Salma took over the leadership of the team.
In the first half there was some great passing and energy from GWS and at the break it was 2-2, Farzana and Nazma striking early in reply to the opposition's goals.
The second half saw even better play from the Sharks - bigger, solid shots and superb passing.
Farzana got the team off to a flyer by scoring another two back-to-back, making a hat-trick of the booting!
Nazma then dribbled around with her trick shots, potting two more to complete her hat-trick and reaching 20 goals for the season.
Sharks were now 6-2 ahead with eight minutes to go.
The Late Arrivals scored two swift goals to make it 6-4, but Sharks wasted no time in making the game safe.
A great pass set up Dee, who had no problem darting the ball in, but that was not enough and the team's most consistent attacker Farzana did more damage and slammed in the eighth goal and her fourth, making it 12 for the season.
Salma said: "This was a big win for the Sharks who just found their appetite!
"In the middle of every difficulty lies an opportunity and today the girls made the most of their chances."

SHARKS GET STUNG

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Camilla)
BEES 5
DESPITE being level at 1-1 at half time, the Sharks lost their bite in the second half and the Bees kept on stinging to record a deserved victory.
Camilla scored her 16th goal of the season for GWS but that was the only highlight of the game for a Sharks team whose three-match winning run came to an end.
Let's hope for a better result and performance next week.
