GREAT COMEBACK FROM SHARKS IN FRIENDLY

STONE ARMY 4
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Vicky 2, Aisha)
FRIENDLY MATCH - AUG 28, 2013

THE Sharks arrived expecting to play local rivals Late Arrivals, however they conceded the game leaving us with an 8-0 walkover and a friendly against Stone Army!
We were expecting a tough battle not only because our captain and keeper Salma was missing in action, but Stone Army are a good solid team who had already drawn with second-placed Under Estimated.
Captain Roadrunner led the way by taking Salma's place in nets, but this may have turned out to be a bad decision as the Sharks got off to a rocky start.
Both the defence and attack were out of position and not marking the Stone Army team, who easily passed the ball around and scored the first deflected off our very Dee!
Good passing and moving saw the Stone Amry break through again not once but three more times leaving the score at 4-0!
In the second half top scorer Roadrunner (she must have scored about 50 this season) came out and and Becky went between the posts, making some very fine saves all the way through.
Farzana took control at the back alongside Dee, and Roadrunner and Aisha took up their usual combination up front.
Seconds after kick off Roadrunner broke through, scoring the first for the Sharks.
Some better marking and passing allowed the Sharks to keep possession of the ball and it wasn't long before Roadrunner volleyed her second in from a parried ball off the Stone's keeper.
The third goal came from a side kick delivered straight to Aisha's head which she planted superbly in the back of the net!
Unfortunately time ran out on the Sharks but a fantastic comeback!
A fantastic team effort from every Shark on the pitch,,,Sarrita, Becky, Dee, Aisha, Roadrunner and Farzana.....we all did Salma proud!

SHARKS FINISH THIRD!

GREAT WHITE SHARKS have clinched third place in the latest season of the Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League Premiership competition.
Needing a win to make sure of third spot last night, GWS were awarded an 8-0 walkover when scheduled opponents The Late Arrivals never arrived at all and withdrew from the fixture.
It was to GWS' credit again that they turned up willing to play the match, as captain Salma Bi was unavailable, top scorer Vicky Roe was carrying an injury and it was uncertain as to whether other players would be able to make it to the arena.

SHARKS REACH 100 GOALS AS THEY BITE BACK TO EARN DRAW

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 5 (Vicky 2, Aisha, Saddi, Farzana)
MIGHTY CHICKS 5
Joma International Birmingham Ladies Futsal League Premiership - August 21, 2013
SHARKS reached 100 goals for the season in last night's thrilling draw against the Mighty Chicks.
The result means Sharks need to win their final match against The Late Arrivals next Wednesday to make sure of third place.
GWS went out to face the Mighty Chicks expecting a comfortable win based on their previous two victories over the same opponents this season.
However, the Mighties had done their homework, bringing along stronger players and making their improvement count.
A few slip-ups from the Sharks allowed the Chicks to lead 4-1 at half time, Aisha opening the GWS account.
In the second half the Sharks battled hard, two goals from Vicky and one each by Farzana and Saddi earning a 5-5 draw.
In the end a hard-won point for GWS who will be fired up for their final match next week.
SHARKS: Salma, Saddi, Dee, Farzana, Aisha, Vicky.

SHARKS DEFEATED IN BAD TEMPERED ENCOUNTER

Saddi (orange) scored once

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 2 (Saddi Shan, Vicky Roe)
UNDER ESTIMATED 6
JOMA INTERNATIONAL BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP
AUGUST 14, 2013

DESPITE suffering a 6-2 defeat last night Sharks are still well placed to finish third in the Premiership.
Wins in their remaining two matches against Mighty Chicks and Late Arrivals will guarantee third position for the GWS.
Only Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies B and Stone Army can now deny Sharks that third spot.
Bham B play champions Birmingham Ladies Futsal Club next week, then on the final night of the season Stone Army and Bham B do battle, so Sharks are sitting pretty in their quest for third.
Whenever the Sharks and Under Estimated meet it is always a tough battle, but last night's tussle saw emotion get the better of the players.
Although fielding a very strong line-up comprising Salma Bi, Dilara Raeesah, Farzana Hussain, Vicky Roe and Solihull Ladies star Saddi Shan, GWS did not have any substitutes, and this was always going to test their resources to the full in a high-paced match.
Under Estimated, who are guaranteed second place, took a 3-0 lead, but Sharks had gone close through Vicky and Saddi.
Then Saddi pulled one back for the Sharks, but UE scored again to make it 4-1 at the interval.
HALF-TIME: 1-4
A goalkeeping error allowed UE to move 5-1 in front, but this did not stop the Sharks from battling hard.
Vicky found the net to make it a remarkable 40 GOALS in 12 MATCHES, with the help of Dee and Farzana in defence.
The game in full flow created a lot of friction and a scuffle broke out between Farzana and an opponent.
After a handshake the match resumed, but during play the Roadrunner got herself caught up in a tackle which led to the referee showing a red card to the Sharks forward and an Under Estimated player, who seemed to make an awful lot of what appeared an accidental challenge.
Tensions continued and quality of play was affected, with UE adding one more goal before the end.
SHARKS: Salma, Dee, Farzana, Saddi, Vicky.
NEXT MATCH: August 21 v Mighty Chicks (7.45pm)

SHARKS TAKE STING OUT OF BEES IN A NINE-GOAL THRILLER

The Tamworth Terror did it again!

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 5 (Vicky 3, Dee, Serricha)
THE BEES 4
JOMA INTERNATIONAL BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S FUTSAL LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP - AUGUST 7, 2013

WHAT a game! The animals let loose!
The Bees, who had 10 players available, scored the opening goal against the Sharks, who had just six. A tough start, but ever-dependable striker Vicky made it 1-1.
The Bees buzzed back ahead, but Serricha hit back to level it at 2-2.
HALF-TIME: 2-2
The Sharks, knowing this was a must-win game to hold on to third place, went in battling even harder after the interval with the impact of Aisha and Farzana ensuring GWS maintained good possession. The Bees managed to get in their third, but this really pumped the Sharks with positivity.
The Roadrunner gave us hope once again, scoring another goal in memory of her late brother Ian, who sadly passed away at the weekend.
The Sharks were not going to stop there!
The Wilnecote Warrior (Vicky's latest nickname) managed to slip in number four to complete yet another hat-trick and lay another swat on the Bees!
Then with only two minutes remaining, the ever-brilliant Dee made it 5-3 with a blinder - a brilliant turn and volley for a tremendous goal!
In the final few seconds The Bees scored off the sideline, but it was too late to prevent a Sharks victory.
The final whistle blew with Great White Sharks winning this circle of life Jumanji Battle.
RIP Ian - this one was for you and Vicky did you proud x

SHARKS LOSE OUT IN SEVEN-GOAL THRILLER

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Vicky 2, Farzana)
BIRMINGHAM FUTSAL CLUB LADIES B 4
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League - July 31, 2013

AFTER three straight wins the Sharks suffered a narrow defeat last night, but they remain third in the table on goal difference.
GWS came up against their biggest rivals Birmingham B in what was a must-win encounter for both teams.
In a high-energy start the main protagonists put 100% into everything, making it almost impossible for each other to string two passes together.
The breakthrough came when Bham B scored their opening goal from a corner, and within the next five minutes they added a second from the same format.
This put the Sharks on the backfoot, and it did not help their momentum that Bham B added a third before half-time.
HALF-TIME: 0-3
Coming out for the second half the Sharks knew this game was not over, but with no substitutes available they had to keep on battling with the bare five players.
GWS started their fightback when Vicky Roe managed to create enough room to score her first of the night.
The Sharks kept the pressure on as play became more intense.
The Roadrunner soon added another to make it a remarkable 35 GOALS IN HER LAST NINE MATCHES! All this from a player who normally operates in defence in 11-a-side!
When Farzana Hussain made it 3-3 the match became even more interesting.
However, Bham B soon scored their fourth and this turned out to be the winner.
Sharks pressed hard late on and were so unlucky not to equalise when with 40 seconds remaining Dilara Raeesah's shot came down off the crossbar twice, but the ball did not cross the line.
Despite the result this was a brilliant performance from the Sharks who were missing a few players on the night, but they certainly made amends after allowing the opposition to get off to a good start.
The Sharks remain third with a swing of 16 goals on Bham B, who have the same number of points.
With four matches left, there is all to play for as the Sharks aim to hold on to that third spot.
Next week's opposition is the Bees.
SHARKS TEAM: Salma. Aisha, Farzana, Dee, Vicky.
