SHARKS LOSE OUT IN SEVEN-GOAL THRILLER

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 3 (Vicky 2, Farzana)
BIRMINGHAM FUTSAL CLUB LADIES B 4
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League - July 31, 2013

AFTER three straight wins the Sharks suffered a narrow defeat last night, but they remain third in the table on goal difference.
GWS came up against their biggest rivals Birmingham B in what was a must-win encounter for both teams.
In a high-energy start the main protagonists put 100% into everything, making it almost impossible for each other to string two passes together.
The breakthrough came when Bham B scored their opening goal from a corner, and within the next five minutes they added a second from the same format.
This put the Sharks on the backfoot, and it did not help their momentum that Bham B added a third before half-time.
HALF-TIME: 0-3
Coming out for the second half the Sharks knew this game was not over, but with no substitutes available they had to keep on battling with the bare five players.
GWS started their fightback when Vicky Roe managed to create enough room to score her first of the night.
The Sharks kept the pressure on as play became more intense.
The Roadrunner soon added another to make it a remarkable 35 GOALS IN HER LAST NINE MATCHES! All this from a player who normally operates in defence in 11-a-side!
When Farzana Hussain made it 3-3 the match became even more interesting.
However, Bham B soon scored their fourth and this turned out to be the winner.
Sharks pressed hard late on and were so unlucky not to equalise when with 40 seconds remaining Dilara Raeesah's shot came down off the crossbar twice, but the ball did not cross the line.
Despite the result this was a brilliant performance from the Sharks who were missing a few players on the night, but they certainly made amends after allowing the opposition to get off to a good start.
The Sharks remain third with a swing of 16 goals on Bham B, who have the same number of points.
With four matches left, there is all to play for as the Sharks aim to hold on to that third spot.
Next week's opposition is the Bees.
SHARKS TEAM: Salma. Aisha, Farzana, Dee, Vicky.
