GREAT WHITE SHARKS 2 (Vicky 2)
SOLIHULL 6
BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE - MARCH 26, 2014
THIS was a game all Sharks looked forward to - time to send a strong message across to ex-players and any player who took the challenge.
The first half started off solid and superb, all Sharks players holding the ball well and keeping themselves in the game.
Newcomers Solihull took the lead from a quick corner, however it was not too long before Vicky Roe rattled their cage and scored a screamer!
Aisha, Camilla and Dee kept the keeper busy, making every effort to add to the GWS score.
Solihull regained the lead, but Sharks hit back very hard with probably the best goal yet by Vicky equalising the score! It was the RoadRunner's 30th goal of the season.
A few minutes before half time, however, a slight misjudgement by Salma meant Solihull nabbed the lead again.
HALF-TIME: 2-3
Sharks knew the price tonight and went in battling hard!
Hameeda joined in the battle, Salma continued to strike out the opponents and took a blow to the face for her trouble.
Aisha pushed on with Vicky, whilst Dee and Camilla covered defence.
The second half didn't even begin and Marleen started the clock?!
Solihull were better in attack in the second half, getting through defence and scoring on rebounds too. The Sharks did slip up attempting short passes rather than taking shots.
The final score was 6-2 to Solihull.
It was a decent effort from Sharks, however. The responded to criticism and showed frustration at what's going wrong.
The Sharks knew they gave their opponents a solid game tonight.
Salma said after the game:
"Tonight wasn't just about winning but proving how good of a unit Sharks are,.
"It will take time bringing in changes and trying new things but that's no excuse not to stay on top of our game and we must keep on biting!
"Each game from now on is to be played with no mercy, no regrets, no room for error.
"It was a decent effort tonight Sharks!! We raised to the challenge and hit hard.
"The scores don't prove it but we all know we gave it every effort.
"A few gaps cost us goals but no individual is to blame. It's frustrating as we keep reflecting on what are we doing wrong?
"I believe in each of you & we battled hard!
"They brought X amount of players just to secure a win!
"It's time to change this approach of letting it just be a game; it's time to be open to criticism and delete our faults!
"We gave them a game - you know this!! Broke a few bones and took the hits but we need to get better and if you are looking forward to playing them again then you are a True Shark who wants a feast!
"Well Done x"
