SHARKS EDGED OUT BY BEES IN THRILLER
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 5 (Vicky 2, Emma, Jade 2)
THE BEES 6
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League Premiership
October 2, 2013
SHARKS never quite recovered from a poor start against the ever-reliable Bees.
With an early kick off GWS began unsteadily and by the 15th minute the Bees were 4-0 up.
Goalkeeper Salma did not do the team justice but this didn't stop the Sharks.
Vicky led the way, battling hard and scoring two goals to make it 4-2 at half time, giving the Sharks something to fight for in the second half.
Going in even stronger after the restart, debutant Emma (Bagsy) went in for the kill, scoring her first goal for the team with the help of Aisha and Farzana's passes.
The Bees kept the pressure on and scored another two goals to take a 6-3 lead.
Jade then came into play, scoring the Sharks' fourth.
Keeping a positive mind-set regardless of the free-kicks against the Sharks and battling against the clock, Jade smashed another home off a corner bringing the score up to 5-6.
Sadly, the equaliser did not arrive.
A great game but a defeat that might cost the Sharks at a later stage.
However, even though the contenders now are getting stronger so are the Sharks - ready to work harder and play good futsal.
Tonight the girls knew they worked hard enough to keep the pressure on the Bees, but could not do quite enough to get a result.
It is nice to be able to report on a game rather than another walkover. Credit to the Bees for always fulfilling their fixtures.
SHARKS: Salma, Jade, Aisha, Farzana, Emma, Dee, Vicky.
