TV COVERAGE FOR THE SHARKS!
THIS week's new Sportswomen programme on Sky Sports featured Great White Sharks players Salma Bi, Saddiqa Shan and Vicky Roe.
The beginning of the show focused on Saddiqa and the breakthroughs she is making as an Asian woman competing in high level football in the British game.
Saddiqa was interviewed about her experiences, as was her father, who gave his blessing to his daughter's attempts to make her name as a footballer.
Salma also spoke on the show, both about Saddiqa's progress and her own football involvement. It was also mentioned about Salma's achievement in becoming the first Asian woman to represent Worcestershire at cricket.
The feature showed Solihull Ladies FC in training, and included among the players working out was Vicky, who plays for the club at 11-a-side.
Although Vicky is a prolific scorer at Futsal, she is a defender with Solihull.
Great publicity and a great show.
LATE GOALS PROVE COSTLY FOR SHARKS
Great White Sharks 1 (Sericha)
Stone Army 4
Joma International Ladies Futsal League Premiership - November 27, 2013
SHARKS were always up against it after top scorer Vicky was unable to reach the arena due to getting stuck in traffic.
Sericha came in as a replacement, making a welcome return, and she joined Salma, Dee, Farzana and Aisha in the starting line-up.
There was a good start from the Sharks, Sericha opening the scoring, but with less than a minute to play before half time Stone broke through with a top corner finish.
HALF-TIME: 1-1.
For most of the second half the score remained the same.
Aisha sustained an injury off a corner kick after being head-butted in the nose.
Braving the effects she chose to stay on.
Stone Army scored their second in the 35th minute via a deflection. With Salma down another player managed to chip it over her and into the net.
Only a few seconds apart Stone attempted a few shots and via an own goal they bagged their third.
The Sharks did look depleted with keeper Salma injuring her thumb and before the end Stone Army managed to get in their final goal.
Sharks were out of time to make any comeback but holding things level for so long and then just losing out at the end is difficult to take, but a lesson that needs to be learnt very quickly.
Sharks are now down to sixth in the league and with tough games against Misfits, who beat Under Estimated tonight, and Birmingham Futsal Club Ladies to come, GWS might have difficulty finishing any higher.

SHARKS STUNG BY BEES
Saddi (orange) was the only Sharks scorer |
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Saddi)
THE BEES 5
Joma International Birmingham Women's Futsal League - November 20, 2013
A VERY disappointing night for the Sharks as they lost 5-1 to old rivals The Bees.
Yet again this was the only official league game played, the remaining three matches are ending up in walkovers.
With Salma unavailable, it was always going to be difficult for the Sharks without a regular keeper.
All players took turns between the posts.
Saddi scored the first goal, but Bees came back quickly and led 3-1 at half time.
The second half saw Sharks try to battle back with Vicky, Dee, Aisha, Jade and Saddi giving it their all, but The Bees stung with venom and ran out convincing winners.
Sharks now drop down to fifth in the league.
The Sharks also played a friendly against league leaders Under Estimated.
The final result was 11-6 to UE with Saddi scoring all six for WGS.

SUPPORT SALMA IN HER FANTASTIC CAUSE
Last year's Dodgeball stars |
RAISING money in a fun way but for a serious cause is the next project on the agenda for award-winning sportswoman Salma Bi.
The Birmingham-based cricketer will stage her second annual World Dodgeball event in January next year.
All funds raised will go to Acid Survivors Trust International, a global organisation which provides crucial support to victims of acid attacks all over the world.
Over the past two years Salma has helped raised thousands of pounds for numerous charities through women-led sporting events.
These have included 10-hour and 20-hour futsal marathons, two T10 indoor World Cup Cricket tournaments and last year's World Dodgeball showpiece.
Salma's events not only collect much-needed funds for deserving causes, they also promote the importance of more female participation in sports.
The 27-year-old haemodialysis nurse, who was the first Asian woman cricketer to play for Worcestershire CC, stages her fund-raisers under two sporting organisations she runs - MAD (Making a Difference) Productions and Sporting Pathways.
Co-founder Salma had a fantastic 2013 cricket season for Worcester and her clubs Five Ways, Wall and Hawarden Park.

Co-founder Salma had a fantastic 2013 cricket season for Worcester and her clubs Five Ways, Wall and Hawarden Park.
Her off-spinners made her leading wicket taker across the board which earned her the honour of training with the England women's squad pre their Ashes series.
Salma is very passionate about getting others involved in sport, and her hard work was recognised when she was recently a finalist in the Birmingham Sportswoman of The Year awards.
She is a past winner of the Asian Women of Achievement Sports award and the British-Asian Services to Sport accolade.
Sporting Pathways has also introduced a project called 'Get Her in The Game' which highlighted the development of Solihull Ladies footballer Saddiqa Shan, who was subsequently shortlisted for not only this year's Asian Achievers Awards but also the Asian Football Awards at Wembley.
Sporting Pathways also has its very own Futsal team the Great White Sharks which competes in the Birmingham Women's Wednesday League and recently played their 100th match.

Striker Vicky Roe, also a Solihill player, has netted over 100 goals for the team.
With five events already hosted by Sporting Pathways it's now back to business again with Dodgeball, a sport particularly big in the United States which involves players on two teams trying to throw large balls at each other while avoiding being hit themselves.
Last year saw the European Mammoths crowned 2013 champions at the inaugural Birmingham event.

Salma said: "We were delighted to greet teams from Manchester, London, Wales and Yorkshire, as well as the European Mammoths all the way from Brighton.
"Natasha Perry led the team to victory and deserved the title for all day they showed charisma and team work.
"Now we look for the next sign-ups for 2014. It is only £10 to register, all for a good cause.
"Sporting Pathways are putting across a special message - a rule in Dodgeball is NO headshots, they count as elimination.
"It will also remind us of acid attack survivors, who experience such trauma they become nothing but suicidal.

ANOTHER NO SHOW
ANOTHER terrible night for the league with just one out of four scheduled matches taking place.
If this continues, does the league have a future?
Great White Sharks only had 5 players available but they turned up ready to play as always, however Birmingham B failed to show - it's the same every week from them.
Result - 8-0 to the Sharks on a walkover.
Sharks' night was not completely wasted as they played Stone Army in a friendly.
At times the Sharks looked rusty, at other times exceptional.
The first half saw the Sharks finish 4-1 down, Vicky netting our only goal.
In the second half, GWS enjoyed better possession and the marking improved.
Dee and Farzana looked good in defence with Vicky and Aisha battling up top.
All players came close to scoring, firing in numerous efforts.
Vicky managed to net another, Farzana scored and Aisha, who had a better game tonight, notched her special goal with a shot from the side.
Each player did battle hard but obvious mistakes caused us problems. Final score was 7-4 to Stone.
Thankfully this was a friendly, but had it been a league game this performance would have cost the girls.
Once again the referee didn't do us justice, giving a free kick to the opponents when a ball was hit off her leg?
Heads up Sharks - we got three points which lifts us up to fourth.

SHARKS GO DOWN BATTLING
GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Vicky)
UNDER ESTIMATED 4
JOMA INTERNATIONAL BIRMINGHAM LADIES FUTSAL LEAGUE - NOV 6, 2013
THIS was the only match played in the league tonight as the other three games were walkovers due to teams not turning up. What a pathetic situation.
As always, the Sharks fulfilled their fixture and came up against league leaders and probably champions to be Under Estimated.
There was a positive start by both teams, playing good Futsal.
It remained 0-0 for the first 13 minutes, but then a slight GWS slip up allowed Under Estimated to push through and score a comfortable goal.
Keeping the pressure on, UE managed to bag another before the turnaround.
HALF-TIME: 0-2
The Sharks were up against it at the start of the second half.
The likes of Saddi, struggling with her ankle, got the ball in good areas but was unable to produce a finish.
Danger player Vicky was being cut off by two defenders each time, Aisha was short of shots, whilst Dee and Farzana rotated, keeping the game lively.
Vicky did manage one goal with the help of Saddi, but Under Estimated scored another two before the end.
The final 20 seconds created a bit of humour!
Farzana somehow managed to kick the ball back into her own face, giving herself a nose bleed, the ball rolled towards Aisha, who made a short pass to Vicky, who smashed the ball back onto Aisha's head!
At least the pain was eased for Farzana with the news her beloved Arsenal had won 1-0 in Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League!
In a friendly match, Sharks were nicely warmed up and beat The Bees 8-4.
Saddi and Vicky scored two apiece in the first half, making it 4-1 at the break.
The second half saw more team work, rotation of subs and creation of better chances.
Final Score 8-4 (Saddi 4, Vicky 3, Aisha 1).
Sharks are fifth in the table, but next week are due to play Birmingham B, which should ensure an 8-0 win, so we will see where we stand then.
SHARKS: Salma, Dee, Farzana, Aisha, Saddi, Vicky.
